DESCRIPTION Lexan* Anti-Fog Film [HPFDF] is a patented one-side coated polycarbonate Anti-Fog film and with an adhesive backing it is an excellent candidate for use in display case refrigeration units such as those found in grocery and convenience stores. It offers long-term anti-fog performance, abrasion resistance, impact resistance, and good optical clarity. Lexan* Anti-Fog Film [HPFDF] film also provides chemical resistance, printability, and anti-static properties.

SUPERMARKET INDUSTRY While doors on reach-in display cases are a significant improvement to energy performance over display cases without doors, a persistent problem has been visibility through the glass doors. Temperature and humidity differences between the inside of the case and the ambient conditions can cause fogging or sweating on the glass surface as a result of condensation buildup. If shoppers cannot clearly see the products, sales may be reduced.
Case manufacturers typically install anti-sweat heaters to keep the door, frame and glass warm enough not to accumulate condensation. These heaters consume electrical energy to produce heat that is ultimately added as an additional load to the refrigeration system which is already using electrical energy to cool the case. The result is a very inefficient net use of electricity.
RETROFIT INSTALLATION The Anti-Fog Film is applied on the inside of freezer doors (retro-fit) and prevents the freezer doors from fogging up when shoppers open the cases. As a result, the standard door heating (which inefficiently tries to prevent the 'fogging up') can be switched off, which in turn accomplishes a significant energy saving.
